Patients trust you with their health records. Let's keep it that way.

For independent eye care, dental and specialty practices

Your practice's outsourced IT team: a dedicated contact who knows your practice, and managed security on every computer.

What could go wrong

Patients hand you their charts, X-rays, insurance details and Social Security numbers. Criminals know it, and they know many independent practices have no IT staff to notice a problem. Usually nobody finds out the security wasn't working until the morning the schedule won't load.

One phishing click can lock up the schedule and the patient records.

Here's what we do about it.

A dedicated contact who knows your practice, and managed security on every computer.

Your team at KDS applies the patches and sends the reports, and Level 2 and Level 3 add managed detection and response. Questions go to your contact.

What it costs and how to start

Three levels of protection for Windows PCs and Macs, priced per computer, so you pay for exactly what you have. The levels and prices are further down. Call (320) 281-7033 or write inquire@kdssys.com and we'll talk it through.

The numbers behind the worry

dental practices and groups reported a patient-data breach in 2026 through September, most from hacking.

Three questions your insurer or a HIPAA auditor could ask

  1. When were security updates last applied to every computer, including the ones running imaging?
  2. If your main computer failed this morning, could you still see today's patients?
  3. If someone got into a computer here on a Saturday night, how would you find out?

If the honest answer is "I'm not sure"... that's the answer.

What we plan for

  • Patient data exposed by one phishing click.

Level 2 adds email security against phishing, spam and impersonation.

  • Practice software and imaging computers.

They're computers like any other, and every level covers every computer. Practice software KDS has supported includes OfficeMate and ExamWriter.

  • Rising HIPAA expectations and cyber-insurance questionnaires.

Reports with real dates for your risk analysis file give you something to point to.

HIPAA

Be ready before the rule is final

Be ready for the stricter HIPAA Security Rule before it's final. It's proposed, not law yet. The practical steps are multi-factor sign-in, patching on a schedule and a plan to get back up fast, and we'll talk through where you stand.

  • What's the difference between Level 2 and Level 3?

Level 2 is everything in Level 1 plus managed detection and response, plus email security against phishing, spam and impersonation. Level 3 is everything in Level 2 plus web filtering, cloud backup of every computer, backups checked daily for failures, and 15 minutes of support per computer each month, pooled across your practice.

  • What happens if our office loses power?

If your email and desktops live in the cloud, a closed office doesn't stop the work. When the office can't be reached, your email still can, and a virtual desktop works from any connected device. You'll still need a working device and an internet connection. Cloud services are quoted when you call.
